Overview:
Aranyaj Jib Shiv Mission School, India’s first free smart school with a unique vision, was established to uphold the belief that access to quality education is a fundamental right for every child. The school provided free, high-quality education to children from impoverished and marginalized communities, ensuring that economic hardship would not stand in the way of a child’s learning and development.
Incident Description:
On July 8, 2024, a violent and deeply distressing incident took place at the school premises. Mr. Dilip Mondal, the Upapradhan of Jharkhali Gram Panchayat and a local TMC leader, along with his associates, forcibly entered the school and assaulted teachers and staff members. A teacher was brutally beaten during the attack. Despite showing valid government authorization, the school team was forcefully evicted from the premises.
This act not only disrupted the education of hundreds of underprivileged children but also represented a gross violation of basic human rights and educational freedom.
Legal Action:
An FIR was promptly lodged at the Canning Police Station on July 9, 2024. Following investigation, the police charge sheeted the case on December 30, 2024, marking a formal step in the legal process to seek justice for the victims and hold the perpetrators accountable.
Current Status:
The school remains non-operational at its original location due to this forced eviction. The team continues to seek legal and administrative recourse to restore educational services to the affected children and ensure the safety of all educators involved.
Appeal:
We urge concerned authorities and members of civil society to support our call for justice and help us reclaim a safe space for inclusive, equitable, and quality education.

We believe that every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. We aim to provide children with the resources they need to succeed. And in this mission, we want to build smart classrooms, computer labs, Science Labs, and sports facilities, and hire qualified, experienced teachers who are committed to providing quality education to our students. We believe that together, we can create a brighter future for our progenies.
